Nathalie Karg Gallery is pleased to present Sommardyner [Summer Dunes], an exhibition of landscape works by Kerstin Hans (1931–2001). The exhibition will be on view from July 1st through August 7, 2026 on the second floor of the gallery.
A quiet powerhouse of 20th-century Scandinavian textile arts, Hans approached the medium with the rigor of a painter and the precision of an architect. She utilized appliqué as a sophisticated layering technique to build dimension, shadow, and narrative from the ground up.
Her work explores the intersection of raw materiality and hierarchical composition, transforming traditional fabrics into three-dimensional landscapes. The resulting artworks offer an immersive experience that shifts with natural light, showcasing an innovative approach to texture and terrain that remains timeless.
Following her passing in 2001, Hans’ work has maintained a celebrated presence in Swedish modernism. Her pieces are held in the permanent collections of major Swedish museums as well as prominent corporate collections, including Volvo and Ciba Geigy.
