Elsa Sahal was born in 1975 in Paris, where she lives and works. With irony and insolence, she questions the principles of sculpture and the major themes of art, from which she draws many references. In this work she revisits mythology with an exuberant Venus, deliberately distinct from traditional representations, miming the pose of reclining women in ancient art. The fragmented body is reconstituted with multiple breasts pointing in all directions. Openly provocative, this sculpture is at once sensual and brazen. While questioning the conditions of representation of the female body, Elsa Sahal thwarts gender clichés.
