The Los Angeles–based painter Jesse Mockrin is currently featured in Berlin gallery Rolando Anselmi’s group show “Endless Lows, Breaking High,” presented in collaboration with fellow Berlin gallery Klemm’s. This painting, Plague (2020)—which she created during the pandemic—received a high number of inquiries this past week. Mockrin, who shows with Night Gallery in Los Angeles and Nathalie Karg Gallery in New York, is known for her deft, contemporary interpretations of art-historical tropes. She was recently commissioned by Vogue to paint a portrait of singer Billie Eilish in the style of Caravaggio.
