Joe Andoe (b. 1955 in Tulsa, Oklahoma) is an artist and author who lives and works in New York City. Inspired by the world he grew up in, Andoe creates stark paintings of the animals, landscapes, women, automobiles and culture of his native Oklahoma. He received his MFA in 1981 from the University of Oklahoma, Norman. Andoe has had multiple solo international exhibitions, including Yodo Gallery in Osaka, Japan; the Gallery Kaj Forsblom in Helsinki, Finland; Milliventi Sperone in Torino, Italy; Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Omaha, Nebraska; Earl McGrath Gallery in New York, Blum Helman Gallery, New York and is currently represented by Nathalie Karg Gallery, New York. His work is included in public and private collections such as the Detroit Institute of Arts, The Dorothy and Hebert Vogel Collection at the National Gallery of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Hood Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern Art, The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
